Stopping Activities being assigned with projects/tasks

When somebody is working on a project, they are to use tasks only.

Activities are for HQ related work only.

We have people entering Activities alongside tasks - this is very problematic. Is there any way of making Activities only selectable with no Client/Project?

Cheers

Hi Ranui,

Currently, activity selection cannot be tied to project/task selection. However, I have marked this as an idea and are reviewing the same.

Thanks,
Lingaraj

Hi Lingaraj,

Can you please clarify.
When you say "activity selection cannot be tied to project/task selection" are you saying somebody shouldn't actually be able to select an activity while also selecting a cliecnt/project?
Or they cannot be tied in the sense of placing a barrier between them with a one or the other function?

Thanks

Hi Ranui,

Sorry for the delayed response. Right now we cannot put a condition stating allow activity selection only when Client/Project/Task is blank. We would recommend that you disable the activities for such individuals who do not need them. This way activities will not show up in the drop down on the timesheet, and force users to enter time only against tasks.

Let me know if you have already tried this approach?

Thanks,
Lingaraj

Hi Lingaraj,

We still need activities available for when people aren't working on client sites or aren't doing client related work which can chop and change throughout the day.

We use both selections, we just don't want them used simultaneously

Cheers

Hi Ranui,

Can we then setup a notice as shown below? This will show up on everyone's timesheets.

Thanks,
Lingaraj

Hi Ranui,

I have received an update from the product management team that, this idea is currently NOT PLANNED. However, will be kept in mind during future planning sessions.

Thanks,
Lingaraj

We also have the same situation; we have projects that have specific tasks, but the timesheet template we are using includes the ability to choose activities for those projects that have a non-specific task.  Users will have both types of time (task and activities) that they have to submit for a time period.  Therefore, we need the ability to suppress the ability to add an activity for a project that has a true task.
