FMLA is required by Illinois law that a company provide qualified employees with 1250 hours of time off in the event of an emergency or medical issue, condition, etc. This type of time off can be taken by the employee and based on our policy it can coincide with PTO. For example, I have an employee who is FMLA approved and is taking the full week off of FMLA. Our policy says they must exhaust all PTO if they are out on FMLA so when I enter the employees FMLA time off it needs to include the employees Paid time off as well. So the booking will be Sick Day/ FMLA. The issue it that we need to record both; FMLA and SICK day, or FMLA, and vacation day. We also record FMLA Unpaid, when they exhaust all of the PTO. So I need to be able to record both together and since the time off types work independently it will not allow me to enter both. I need to record the FMLA time taken and I need to record the PTO time used.
