Generating full extracts from Gen 3

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to build full extractions from the cloud to be used to load a data warehouse. At first we were looking at using the API to access all Users, Clients, etc., but we're now thinking about creating Reports and then run the reports with a CSV output type. Has anyone delved into doing this? I'm looking for methods that worked the best...

Hi,

Thank you for using Replicon Community.
Gen3 offers services built on WCF(Windows Communication Foundation), using services you should be able to pull and push data into third party data sources.

More details can be found at http://www.replicon.com/getting-started

I had to tackle the same issue, and have gone the route of the API. I now have a nightly batch job that downloads all clients, projects, users, timesheets (with time entries), expense sheets (with expense entries), and bill rates. All that data is updated into a data warehouse, which I use for our own custom reporting and dashboards. Were you able to get yours working using the reports approach? Contact me if you'd like more info on how we got this done - email to awenzel.

Yes, we were able to use the reports. We did not use the API because of the overhead of multiple APU calls for the extracts, as each call had a duration of about 10-15 seconds...
