Comments option when Editing

Just realized when going over an expense sheet for approval you can insert comments when approving or rejecting the expense sheet but the option isn't available when editing the same. Once you edit the expense sheet the comments section just shows "Edit". Could the inserting comments option be added when editing so that the approver can give comments on why the expense sheet was edited?

HI Washington,

I am assuming that you are talking about editing the expense sheets that are waiting for approval. In order to edit them do you reopen the expense sheet and then edit them.

I apologize if my understanding differs your concern

Thanks,
Aashnee

Hi Aashnee,

My issue is that when I reopen the expense sheet and edit it, I don't have the option to put in comments as to why I've edited the expense sheet. I know the module allows for inserting comments whenever approving or rejecting an expense sheet but this option is not available when it comes to editing an expense sheet.

I hope this clarifies my concern.

Regards,
Washington

Hi Washington,

Thank you for the clarification. When you click on the reopen button, you should have an option to add comments, where you can specify the reason of reopening the expense sheet or editing it. In case the issue differs my understanding please help me with a good time to reach you and I can help you on the call

Thanks,
Aashnee

Hi Aashnee,

When I reopen the expense sheet on the Payroll tab, yes I can add comments as to why I'm reopening the expense sheet. But then I have to log in as the specific expense sheet's user to edit it and then resubmit the expense sheet also adding comments as to why I'm resubmitting the same. Finally I have to go to my Team tab and approve the same expense sheet also adding comments.

My concern is instead of following all these steps, it would be easier and more efficient to have an option of adding comments when editing the expense sheet once it comes to me for approval on my Team tab. As it stands I can edit the expense sheet waiting for my approval on my Team tab but can't add any comments.

Don't know whether this is clear enough. You can contact me between 4-5 EAT today (+254729226377).

Regards,
Washington

Thanks,

Thanks for your suggestion/input. We don't have plans to redesign this right now, but we can revisit it at a latter point.

I agree that this would be a useful feature. As already stated, when reopening an expense report or timesheet the comment box appears first and again when they are resubmitted. But if I go to edit an expense report or timesheet that has been submitted and is waiting my approval, I am not prompted to enter any comments. They just automatically approve on my behalf with no comments, just "Edit" in the comment area. We would appreciate Replicon considering this feature in the future.
