Actual V/s/ Estimated hours

At the Project Management window there is no obvious way to see the actual vs estimated hours for the whole project without using reports.

The same information can be see at task level but it would help if this was also available at project level from within Project Management.

Also, the % complete indicators (top right hand corner of Project Management screen) have to be manually adjusted. Should this not be automatic depending on the actuals vs estimates for the project?

Good idea regarding the estimated and actuals being visible on the project.
Similarly I had suggested the % indicators to be updated automatically. It will be interesting to see the ideas & product develop.

% indicators being updated automatically makes sense as the current implementation is of not much use, I think.

Absolutely, I agree - more automation, greater efficiencies.

Hi Ann,

I have received an update from the product management team that, this idea is currently NOT PLANNED. However, will be kept in mind during future planning sessions.

Which part is regarded as not planned as there was 2 issues?

I would regard the manual updating of the % indicator as a "bug" as this should be done automatically.  Doing this manually does not make sense other than to close the project.

Hi Ann,

Both the idea's are currently not planned for this years roadmap. Project progress slider is presently designed to be manually updated and not a bug as such.

Thanks,
Lingaraj

Can I ask why its manual and what purpose is it expected to serve if operating in this way?

Just a thought - % of hours used and the % of job completion are not necessarily the same thing. The hope is that they are one and the same, but in reality the job may take more or less time than estimated to complete.

I agree but if there is not enough budget left to complete the job then further budget is required whether this is charged for or is regarded as a write off. Either way do you not need to know the real %?

We create a RAR/WO (Run At Risk / Write Off) task when budget has run out.
