User Rate Update Ideas

Hi All,

I have posted before regarding the User Rate flowing through to the project as the default, rather than the Project Rate being the default. We have been told that this configuration is not possible. After a few months of manual work, there are two ideas our PMs have suggested to us that we thought we would pass on

1) Set up effective date ranges on the User Rate field on a user profile
This feature already exists on the Supervisor field. In essence, we would like the ability to set a specific user on a specific rate for a specific date range. Currently, if a user changes rates, we have to go through each project and update their default user rate manually, which occasionally leads to reporting errors.

2) Have the Default User Rate on projects update to reflect the user rate associated to a User
This is an extension of the above. If a date range feature can be implemented from the User Profile perspective, then it would also be useful to have users who have been assigned their default user rate to have that rate automatically update to reflect what is in their user profile.

We would very much like to know if these changes would be possible, as it eliminates any user errors between updating rate on the user profile and updating each rate individually on projects

Hi Aashnee,

Just thought id follow up on this one, as i have noticed that in the same section of the User Profile (Billing & Cost) the "Hourly Cost" section does actually have the effective date function.

It seems strange then that it is done for Cost but not for User Rate. Im sure there is a reason for it, but it just seems odd to me
