New options when allocating resources to projects

In an upcoming release, we’ll be giving resource managers more control when allocating resources to projects and tasks. They’ll be able to:

  • Select whether each percentage-type allocation is based on the user’s scheduled hours or on their available hours (scheduled hours excluding time off). Currently, percentage allocations are always based on the user’s available hours.
  • Choose whether allocations are applied to holidays. Currently, holidays are excluded by default.
  • Choose to have holiday hours for office schedule workers display as allocations on the allocation grid, so managers know an allocation already exists

We’ll also be:

  • Renaming the Week Days field (available in the allocation dialog when the Weekly range is selected) to Limit To, so it’s clearer that allocations will still only occur on applicable allocation dates, regardless of what days you select from the field
  • Saving settings selected from the allocation dialog, to make assignment easier if you often use the same types of allocations
These changes will be available in RepliconPSM, RepliconPPM, Professional Services Automation, and Project Portfolio Management.
