Showing hours as 7:50 vs 7:30 in Gen3 reports

Hi,

We've configured all our users to show time in the 7:30 format (instead of the 7:50).
In the timesheets, the time shows as configured (30m):

In the reports it shows in the other format (.50 of an hour):

Shouldn't the information displayed be consistent across all Replicon?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,
Nuno

Hi Nuno,

Thank you for using Replicon Community,

Reports currently follow the decimal format all the time & this is as per design. However, I have marked this as an idea and are reviewing the same.

Thanks,
Lingaraj

Hi Lingaraj,

Thanks for your reply.

This is an awkward situation since users are used to see information in the application in one way (7:30 format), and then, when looking at reports, information is shown in another way (7:50 format).
This leads to misunderstandings.

I hope Replicon finds a way to uniform the display of information.

Regards,
Nuno

I agree with Nuno: having different behaviors on presenting the same information makes a lot of "noise".

Hi Nuno,

Thank you for posting your suggestion.
In my opinion, I think Reports should represent data in decimal for a couple of main reasons - Firstly, representing values in decimal, provides for better accuracy of data and secondly representing data in decimal allows users to write custom formulae that can operate on this data. The Hours and Minutes format being alphanumeric in nature would mean that they cannot be used in numeric operations and custom formulae.
Report data can also be exported into or integrated with other 3rd party applications, and in that light, the decimal format proves to be the most suitable.

Having said that, I totally agree that information should be presented consistently across the app. And Reports provide the flexibility to do that. My suggestion would be to create a simple custom column in the report that you use, with a custom formula that converts decimal time values to Hours:Mins. This should bring the data in line with what users see in their timesheets.

If you'd like, one of our Support specialists could get in touch with you to help set this up.

Thanks,
Naveen
