This week, we added some of new validation rules, including new break waiver rules, a rule that restricts how many hours of time off can be entered on a specified date, and a rule that checks if billing rates have been selected on timesheets.

New timesheet validation rule: Billing rate validation

If you enabled this rule in a user’s timesheet template, a warning or error message will display if the user hasn’t selected a billing rate. If desired, you can also block the user from submitting the timesheet if a billing rate is missing.

New time off validation rule: Restrict booking by hours for the specified day

This time off validation rule limits the number of hours a user can book off on the specified date. It’s useful for time-restricted types of time off, such as voting time. For example, in New York state employers must allow employees up to 3 hours of paid time off for voting. In this case, you’d set the maximum duration to 3 hours on election day.

New break validation rules

We’ve added some new validation rules to help employers ensure breaks, whether taken or waived, are documented and that premiums are paid for breaks that weren’t provided:

  • Meal Break Validation for Continuous Work timesheet validation rule – Ensures users take a meal break before they exceed six hours of continuous work. The six hour default value can be updated. Helps enforce meal break laws for customers in the Czech Republic and Austria.
  • Rest Break Validation with Waiver punch validation rule – This rule is similar to our existing Meal Break Validation with Waiver rule for punch users, but applies to rest breaks
  • Rest Break Enforcement timesheet validation rule – This rule is similar to our existing Meal Break Enforcement rule, but applies to rest breaks

  • We’ve add a new age-based time off accrual rule for users in Norway, where employees accrue additional time off each year starting at age 60
