Question on upcoming Holiday changes...

I am not able to post this to the announcement that just came out...but I have a question regarding the changes to Holiday Time off.  How is this change going to effect those holidays that change such as Muslim holidays?  We currently do not auto-populate the holiday hours on a time sheet and need users to manually enter the Holiday time because some holidays move or are added last minute.  In the past once a timesheet was created and holiday hours autopopulated, if a holiday was changed to a different day or added the user had to manually make the change. (for example, a Muslim holiday may be projected to be on March 14 so when March timesheet was created this would autopopulate...but they may find out on March 2 that the holiday is actually going to be on the 15th. Which meant users had to manually move the hours and were confused. Likewise, we may find out today that Friday is going to be a holiday...so we update the holiday calendar.  How will those hours get put on the timesheet.)

P.S. we have monthly timesheets and must report holiday hours on each timesheet....so I'm seeing that this could be more confusing for our users.

Hi!

I was posting a similar issue.

We have users that are based on one of our office locations but sometimes are working on other office location, with a different set of holidays. If they are unable to book holidays when they are working in their temp location it will require some procedure changes.

Thanks,
Nuno

Hi All,

I want to clarify that you can still create a normal Time Off type that is called "Holiday" or whatever you would like to name it and the employees will be able to see and change it as current. We are making a change to what we consider the Holiday Time Off Type, which is a special Time Off Type that enables the auto-population on the Timesheet. If you are not using that mechanism for your employees, then this does not impact the way you have configured Holidays. Please let me know if this is still not clear.

Thanks, Karen

Now that you have rolled out this change you have broken our holidays...it did does impact the way we have configured the holidays.  I"m trying to figure out how I can fix it.  We cannot have holidays automatically added because sometimes holidays are added at the last minute and since timesheet is already created will not add the new holiday. Second, if I try to create a dummy holiday as my public holiday and want users to manually enter the holiday, they are not allowed to enter any time off for the holiday so they cannot do it.  And finally, if I put that there is no public holiday time off type, it will still not let them enter time off for the holiday.

SO, with this change, how do I set it up for our staff to manually enter their holiday time off? (Following DCAA rules and payroll they must report all hours in the month so they need to report the holiday hours.)

Hi Lisa,

A quick question, when you say "Second, if I try to create a dummy holiday as my public holiday and want users to manually enter the holiday, they are not allowed to enter any time off for the holiday so they cannot do it", I am hoping that you have not named it as Holiday. You can name it as anything other that Holiday may be Holiday Time off. Please tell me if still doesn't work.

Thanks,
Aashnee

I left public holiday as my holiday type and added a dummy type called autopublicholiday. My holiday is shaded and mot auto populated but when i try to add holiday hours as this dummy time off i get that i must include at least one working day.
