Progress status bar - Automation

It would be beneficial for our business process if the progress status bar on the project tab is automated (particularly for In Progress projects). Quite simply, if the status of the project = In Progress, the calculation would be actual hours/estimated hours.

Hi Sonja,

Thanks for asking the question. Challenge with making it automated is that many times projects and tasks go over estimate, so it may give the wrong impression to Project Managers or Executives about the status of the project. Having said that, it will be a good idea to show (through some sort of visual) on how many hours have already been put against the estimates.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Project Monitoring.

In the Project Summary tab (Gen 3) top right (next to the Progress bar) there are 3 summaries - Hours, Cost, and Billing.

What are the circumstances in which any or all of these changes to a pink background (warning, I assume)?

Why does the progress bar not update automatically? As an admin, we should be able to choose the basis of this, i.e. by cost, hours etc. I simply do not see the point of updating this manually.

Hi Peter,

This is currently not planned. However, I will put this forward to my team again and will see if this is something in talks.

Thank you Ashnee. If nothing else, getting Project Leads to focus on progress against budget highlighted by seeing a progress bar approach 100% (by hours) when there is still several months left will focus their minds a bit. This is a key area for us.

I would also like to see this functionality and if a project goes over it should show the percentage over the estimated. Then again it would be of benefit to see that percentage on the project management page that shows all the projects you have in Replicon so I can see what is happening at a glance.
