Issue with TimeSheet Period filter in reports

There is a reporting issue when using Timesheet Period as a filer option. This filter will allow you to select either:-

1. Timesheet period   OR

2. Start date and an end date

The confusion arises when only one week is selected and the start or end date is NOT the start or end date of a timesheet period.  This can cause data to be missing from reports unknowingly of the wrong day is selected.

It makes more sense for the range to be Select Start Period and Select End Period where the user can select the start timesheet period and the end timesheet period.  No data will then be lost.

Hello Ann,

The Timesheet Start and End Date controls, as of now, will try and match all Timesheets whose start date is greater than or equal to the selected Start Date in the filter, and less than or equal to the Timesheet End Date.
I agree with you that the way this filter is labelled in Reports right now is not very intuitive.

I will be looking into this in due course to see how we can improve the messaging in the filter UI so as to make its function clearer.
Thank you, I think your suggestion is very useful.

I have a further problem with the filter options for the TimeSheet period field.

Here is my situation:
I have created a report that will enable me to find any timesheet that is late - that is, not submitted or not approved (using Approval status field).

What I wish to do is Automate the report to be sent to managers/supervisors on a scheduled basis to equip them with information to pursue closure of deliquent timesheets.

However - I cannot set the filter for the Timesheet Period field in such a way that would allow me to automate this report.
My options are only
  1. Select Period - enabling me to choose Current period (not needed) or Last period (not extensive enough) or any 1 specific period (again, not extensive enough and too rigid)
  2. Date range - There is no way to dynamically set the date range to always return timesheets from past periods.
I need a way to set the Timesheet Period to a more dynamic entry (i.e. Last 6 months) that continually provide current information without manual intervention.  Something like " Last Period and previous" would be ideal.

Hi Michael,

You can use the 'Submitted On' filter in this case. This filter contains the 'Last 6 Months' field. You can then schedule your report using 'Submitted On' and remove 'Timesheet Period'. Let me know if that works for you.

Refer to the screenshot below:

Hi Lingaraj,

That only gets me partway there.   One of the items I'm hoping to report out is the comprehensive list of unsubmitted timesheets for previous periods.  In those instances, using the "Submitted On" field will not work as the value is null.

However, using that field will produce the full list of timesheets that are still in the approval path, so that's part of my solution.

Hi Michael,

I think this is a good idea and I think it would enhance the usability of the Timesheet Period filter if new options for rolling date ranges are added to it (subject to technical feasibility). We will review this idea in future product planning sessions and will look at including it in a future product version.

Thanks,
Naveen

Hi Ann,

Thank you for using replicon community!

This post underlines the messaging of the filters. Is your concern related to that as the filter works as expected and the label needs a change. Or is your concern similar to the one raised by Michael?

Thanks,
Aashnee
