Holiday Balance

When a user wants to quickly view a summary of their holiday balance it doesn't take into consideration future holiday bookings and only shows a current balance as at today's date.  This is causing some confusion and I am concerned that users may end up booking more holiday than they're entitled too.

Could the Summary balance be the total deductions for the year so users can clearly see what they had/have booked off and what they have left remaining.

I know that users can go into the holiday type and view a list of holidays booked by select the year and it provides a total at the bottom however what is the point of a summary of your holiday balance if it doesn't give you a true indication of what you have and are due to take.

Agreed that this area could be re-worked to be more useful and intuitive for users. Its not currently on our list of things to do for the year, but will keep it in mind for the future.

Holiday Balances - we ran a report towards the end of last year to see what holiday entitlement users had and we were finding some users had exceeded their holiday balances due to the issue I raised above.  As you can imagine this took time to correct this.  I think this should definitely be something that needs to be looked at as this can have an impact on the company.

Hi Zoe,

You should see a new configuration option in the Time Off Type section called "Simple Balance Summary", which changes the numbers you see on the booking dialog. Please try that out and let us know if that helps solve some of the issue.

I too have this issue.  The above "fix" is of no value, offers no further explanation of time off.  Our company accrues time monthly throughout the year.  The above fix seems to assume all time for year is given day 1 of that year.  Only an issue for users that use time quicker than they accrue it.

For us the issue is that a user can book time off in the future, say 2 months, have it approved.  Then they decide to take another vacation at say 1 month in future, and it will be approved and show balance in the green for that vacation......but now their 2 month out vacation (already approved)balance does not have enough hours for the vacation.

Are there still plans to implement a better solution that above?  My users will constantly call the system "Deceiving" for this reason.  Even a really annoying popup of some kind that says "Hey book this vacation, and you won't have enough time for the future booking already approved" would help.  Something the user MUST acknowledge at the time of booking would cover it.
