Expected Schedule Timezone Behavior

What is the expected behavior of schedules across time zones if the Time Zone Format is Do Not Show Time Zones? If I'm in CST/CDT and create a 7-4 assignment on a schedule, should my employees on EST/EDT see 7-4? If I change the Time Zone Format to EST, does the schedule then appear at 6-3. Also, if I am to create schedules via web services, what timezone are they created? Or does it not matter based if the Time Zone Format is Do Not Show Time Zones?

Hi Heather,

The "Time Zone Format" in the settings section affects the way the punches are displayed in the system and not the schedules. For example, if your user is in MDT time zone, setting the "time zone format" field to EST will show the punch as follows (With the time zone as MDT at the End)

And if the time zone format is set to GMT+5:30, then the punches will show as follows

These formats don't affect the schedule section.

Thank you for the response. So, when a schedule is created and there is an assignment created for 7am-4pm, the assignment is 7am-4pm in any timezone?

HI Heather,

The schedule that you create only specifies the in time and the out time. When you assign the schedule to users, the in and the out time specified are based on their time zones.

To confirm, if I create a schedule for 7-3p and assign that to someone in EST, they will see 7-3p. If I assign that same schedule to someone in PST, they will also see 7-3p.
