Either or in approval path

Is there a way in which Replicon Gen 3 can approve either Project Lead OR Supervisor to approve time sheets? This can be used to cover periods when the PL is on leave.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for using the Replicon Community!

Currently it is not possible to have an "Or" functionality in the approval path. While I take this as an Idea and put this across to my team I can suggest you the following:

You can have a common email address for both the approvers. While the approver email is received on that address it can be viewed by both and approved by either one of them. However, this may only work if you wish to have an "Or" functionality throughout the approvals and not just for certain scenarios.

Thanks Ashnee. The scenario is that a Project Lead may be on leave or indisposed, and we have deadlines for time entry and approval which would be missed in these cases. I would expect other users to have similar problems in these cases. Thinking about it you could also have an 'On leave' button which means that if a PL is on leave the Supervisor can approve by themselves.

I'd be interested to know what other Gen 3 users do in these circumstances.

Hi Peter!

We have the same problem. As a workaround we have implemented a procedure that does one of two things:
1. if the project manager is able to delegate the approval in a single user before going on vacation/leave, that single user is a substitute user for the project manager.
2. if the project manager must delegate his project to more than one user then those users become the project manager for the vacation/leave times of the original project manager.

This is the only way we have to assure approval deadlines.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Hi Peter,

As Nuno suggested, the best option is to assign substitute users for those who are on leave. After a substitute logs in, they'll see an icon in the top corner that lets them access and approve on behalf of the original project manager.

As for Either Or approvals, it's not something we have planned right now, but I'm hoping substitutes can meet your needs here.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Query on Timeoff Approval Path.

I have created a time off approval path with the supervisor to approve first then another 2. We need to set up the other 2 that either one can approve (whoever is available) instead that both approve. We need you to design "Or" option in approving time off.

Is this "Or" functionality something that is being worked on? For example, in our company, the accounting team is the first level of review on all expenses. Once approved by accounting (which can be one of multiple people), the expense report is approved by the project manager. We are struggling (and have been for a while), with this first level - as the approval can be any one of the accounting team members.
