Display of project progress on timesheet

When we were using a custom "widget" timesheet, project progress (number hours used vs total estimated) was displayed on our timesheets.    That feature was lost when we switched to the "standard" timesheet format, although "view progress" is checked on the timesheet template.
It would be very useful to get this back.   Any ideas?

Hi Phil,

Thank you for using the Replicon Community!

Unfortunately, you can only track task progress on the timesheet when you are using the Standard timesheet. I will take this up as an Idea and forward it to my product management team

Thanks,
Aashnee

I have the same issue. We used to be able to see the project progress, and now, we have to drill down to a specific task in order to see progress. (we don't necessarily have multiple tasks under one project). It is really bad to take away features that we previously had. Plus, the project progress thingummy on the project summary page doesn't actually track anything, always shows zero progress, and has to be toggled manually. Seems like a useless feature.

Hello, has there been any update on this feature? It would be great to have the task progress bar added back as an option.

HI All,

Task progress bar on the custom timesheet is a feature that we have been working around. We will update the thread as soon as the feature is up and available.

Thanks,
Aashnee

HI Philipp,

View Progress bar is something that we have already worked through. We will update you as soon as we have it as a Widget

This can't be difficult.  This thread started 3 years ago.  My experience with Replicon is that you say you'll work on something and it never comes to be.  People are asking for this simple feature so please provide it.  This is something I would find very useful.

Hello Geoff,

Thank you for the response.

The project progress is available in the Widget timesheets and requests you to refer to the screenshot:

Please do let us know if you have any further questions.

In setting up a Widget timesheet I see an option for "View Task Progress" only.  I do not see an option to view project progress.

Hello Geoff,

Thank you for the response.

Please enable the same option to show the Project Estimated hours.

In my set up only the project has estimated hours and the time is entered against the project.

You may check the below article and refer to Using task progress graphs:

https://www.replicon.com/help/setting-and-tracking-project-estimates/

Hope this information helps.

The article you've directed me to states:

Using task progress graphs

Within each duration-based timesheet template, you can enable progress bars that display beside each row in the timesheet. They show the total hours worked for all workers on a project or task as a fraction of the estimate entered for that task.

This graph displays when managers access the timesheet. Therefore, they could routinely check a project’s progress when approving time.

I simply want to do the same for Project Progress

I know how to get this information by running reports, but I want it to show for projects at the timesheet entry level, as it does for tasks. The ability to enter Project estimated hours is enabled.

Hello Geoff,

Thank you for the response.

The progress bar will work for the projects where the users are entering time against the projects and where the estimated hours are defined.

Please do try to set up a test project and then define estimated hours after enabling the "View task progress bar"  from the timesheet template and then when the users start entering time on the timesheet they will see the progress bar for the projects.

Feel free to let me know if you have any issues to set it up and we can get in touch with you as per your support entitlement.

Regards,

V.Vinodh

Dear Replicon Community

I'd like to bring this topic back alive. We are still struggling with the topic of task progress, task overbooking and with employees not able to submit their timesheets on time.
This feature is desperately needed!
How can it be that this is was lost during the update from standard to custom timesheets and that after two years it's still not possible to see task progress on the timesheet?
Come on Replicon Product Team this is an essential feature!!!

Philipp

Hi Philipp,

Can you please provide a screenshot of your timesheet? We do support task progress on some formats of the custom timesheet now. So if I can take a look, we can confirm whether it's available on what you are using.

Thanks,
Charlene

Hi Charlene

Any update on this?
Is there really no way to have task progress bars in In/Out Timesheets?

Best regards.

Hi Philipp,

It's not something we have planned currently. But your original post talks about struggling with task progress and overbooking. Can you please explain more? Perhaps there are other options in our product that can help with that.

Thanks,
Charlene

Hi Charlene
I'm sick and tired of explaining this simple requirement over and over again!
What is the problem to display task progress bars on In/Out Timesheets???

Hi Philipp,

I understand the feature you are asking for but was wanting to understand more about how it was contributing to users not submitting on time and overbooking.

As I'm sure you know, we receive many requests for new features and enhancements and need to prioritize the various items that are being asked for based on the available resources. While there is certainly some demand for this, there are other items we see higher demand for. For example, shortly we will be rolling out the option to copy timesheet rows, which we added based on community requests. And we of course have our own priorities internally as well. So unfortunately, this hasn't made it to the top of the list yet. However, by understanding more of how the lack of this affects your business, it can help bump up the priority.

Thanks,
Charlene

Hi Charlene

Thanks for getting back on this after my frustrated comment.

Totally understand that you have to prioritize - I just don't understand technically why this isn't a quick win (as it was there already before the custom timesheet widgets and as it is there on the time distribution grids)!

Right now employees only know that their task is fully booked once they fail to submit their timesheet (when the timesheet validation kicks in). If they would see a progress bar, they could proactively inform the project manager that a task probably won't be finished within the budgeted time. This would save a lot of time and discussions in the approval process.

Best regards,
Philipp

Hi Philipp,

While I don't think there are any true blockers, I believe that widget is a little older and would require some technical rework to add new functionality like this. So that explains a little why it's not as simple as we would hope.

I took a look at the estimate validation rule that you are using and I do think it's strange that the validation only shows when you go to submit. It seems like a validation like this would be better to show as you are entering time during the week, while you are still able to do something about the overage. I'm talking with some people to see what the options are. Will let you know if we come up with anything to improve this.

Thanks,
Charlene
