Checking who will be away before booking time off

It’s summertime!

At least, it is where I live. And believe me, the winters here are long, so we take full advantage of the nice weather while we have it.

Just about everyone in my office takes some vacation time over the summer, but we still need some bodies around for mission-critical functions, like coding new features, helping customers, and posting Feature Spotlight articles in our community.

So how can we – and you – ensure enough staff are available during the busy vacation seasons?

While it’s ultimately up to supervisors to avoid approving too many requests, their job can be made easier if employees take some initiative when planning their vacations.

How? By using their time off calendar to check who has time booked off already.

Checking existing bookings is simple. Just go to your time off calendar and click the cog icon in the top, right-hand corner.

Then, choose the departments or users whose time off you want to view.

The requested and approved time off bookings for all selected teammates will display in your calendar, in gray.

So let your team know! Booking time off is simpler for everyone if employees have all the information available before making their requests.

For more information, refer to Viewing other users’ planned time off in our help system.
